JOAN MITCHELL - PAINTING OF THE TWO WORLDS
From 22/06/2009 to 19/07/2009 Retrospective exhibition, the first ever organized in Italy, dedicated to Joan Mitchell (Chicago, 1926 - Paris, 1992), one of the leading artists of the American abstract expressionism in the fifties, when she lived in New York and mixed with some important American artists - Pollock and De Kooning among others. After she relocated to Paris, she drew inspiration in her works from the lesson of great European painters as Van Gogh and Monet.
On display are 46 paintings made from 1950 until the days immediately prior to her death, including several sizeable polyptyches, from some of the major American museums, and French museums and private collections.
